The Flicks Al Fresco series as the Cosmopolitan building combined weekly food truck rodeos and outdoor drive-in style movie nights. Nomad Cinema played the films, Upstate Studios & MT Borenstein custom designed movie posters for each week, the #syrfoodtrucks brought the eats with a rotating roster of trucks each week. We gave the drive-in FM radio option or tail gate/BYO chairs option and Chinatowne Furniture donated a huge nututzi leather sectional for ‘BEST SEAT IN THE HOUSE!’ where a lucky attendee would answer trivia on the previews screen before the film and then be upgraded right before the start of the movie! We even had local themed nights with Syracuse Nationals hot rods, and charity driven Hunger Games as well as live bands like GIN BUCKET perform before hand!
CHEF, Ratatouille, DRIVE, The Hunger Games
One of the highlights was when Director/star of CHEF Jon Favreau retweeted our post week one of the crowd watching CHEF on the blow up screen in the lot tailgate style. @noexcusesyr on twitter proceeded to gain hundreds of followers all who had a request for Jon - like can I be in your movie or can I score your film etc. It was epic, but alas we were just a small group of people from UPstate NY trying to make a fun movie series happen on Wednesday nights in the Summer of 2015.
