THE HOS - The heart of Syracuse
In December of 2016 a small pop-up shop on S. Warren st. in the back of the Dey Brothers Building opened called #theinfinitepop - it was small but mighty A dedicated group of artisans gathered to celebrate handmade and inspired a few more versions of that vision, that eventually made their way to Armory Square. New collaborations, same goal: give Syracuse the kind of space where creatives can be and grow together. A true local community selling their handmade art!
By May of 2018 @wildflowers_syr was found on that premise and thanks to a true partnership with @washingtonstreetpartners we were able to grow as brand and become an evolving creative hub in the Salt City. Soon after that we grew into the historic McCarthy Building, in a former Dunkin Donuts shop. Which is no coincidence, we are small businesses and will forever be the opposite of corporate. We created a unique business structure and started putting real money into the hands of hundreds of local artists.
The @mccarthy_mercantile a whole lower level indie shopping experience was birthed from our authentic syracuse homegrown retail experiment. And we began developing a new only SMALL MALL. one that needs to be talked about and experienced In person. A few years of building and hosting unique events gave us a new perspective and a new opportunity…
A nearly 2,000 +SF expansion (formerly Bersani’s ) on the ground level directly next to @wildflowers_syr and directly above @mccarthy_mercantile An enhancement and extension of what we’ve been creating over the past decade…
WELCOME the Heart of Syracuse aka the HOS @heartofsyr
A new space that seamlessly blends artisan retail with café culture, a fresh floral design shop, fringe performances and gathering space. Combining all the things we’ve loved and learned from while blossoming from that small pop-up nearly a decade ago. It’s impossible to not feel a profound sense of gratitude when we say it out loud - a historic building on the corner of main & main that hosts over 75 small businesses!!!!
Here’s to the journey that brought us together and the exciting opportunities that lie ahead!!
217 S. Salina Street in the Heart of Downtown Syracuse.
